The
Sickening
When I am asked how my first few weeks in Mexico are going,
I usually reply with “The beaches are real nice”,
or things are going pretty good. But in truth the main thing
I can tell you about Mexico and our house in particular is the
bathroom. The public bathrooms are a weird place, especially
for a gringo like me, for some reason the Mexicans are always
trying to check out my junk. Not to get ahead of myself, let
me give you a little back story.
It started on the Tuesday after we arrived. We had awoken from
a booze infused night and things were looking pretty good. [more]

The
Wicker Man
Ah yes, The Wicker Man, one of my all time favorite movies.
Hard to classify yet it has that something that most movies
dont have, originality. It is one of those movies where I dont
like to explain it to people, they have to watch it for themselves
without any prior knowledge to the plot to fully appreciate
it. So much to my amazement and dissapointment I was watching
TV when this trailer for this new flick came on and it looked
vaugely familiar. It happend to turn out to be a remake of The
Wicker Man. Why? The movie was never really that popular in
the first place, in fact it lost money for the film company
yet, as with alot of great movies, it generated a cult status
in the underground scene, so thats probably why they remade
it, but I dobut it will go anywhere. So now this movie, which
I feel is 100 percent perfect the way it originally was and
have enjoyed it's hidden greatness, has now been CGI'ed and
retooled for the a-creative generation. [more]

A
First Class Meeting
After, posting the last story about being fleeced, I received
a curious IM (that’s instant messenger for you not savvy
folks) from my man Stu.
Stu: You sat next to Tom Bosley?
Me: Say what?
Stu: Mr. C
Me: So that’s his name. I am pretty sure
it was him, I was going to try and snap a pict but couldn't
Me: I really wanted to get a picture of me
in just a wife beater with a can of beer in first class, but
thought better of it.... Now I am kicking myself

Welcome
to Mexico, or how to get fleeced in 10 different ways
Well we have made it to Mexico, and contrary to popular belief
neither I nor Rachel was detained at the border for being Gringos.
The week started on Sunday, a few short days after leaving the
final Special Export away game (def; when a volleyball team
seasons over, we all go out and get drunk). That morning was
tinged with excitement as Rachel and I finished are last minute
packing. And hopped in the truck for what would be the last
time we rode in a car with AC for the next 4 months. [more]
